September 13. 2005 in Glasgow (Workshop 9.00-12.30)
Six-Winners is proud to be selected as a workshop leader at "The First International Workshop Design for Six Sigma"

Topic: Applying DFSS in Service and Transaction: How to Make it Work

The use of DFSS within the manufacturing environment has been well documented, but less
so within service and transaction. However, all the critical elements and principles of DFSS remain just as relevant when applied to a hospital, bank or hotel. In fact, the opportunity for defects to occur is often increased within service and transaction environments due to the intangibility of the 'product' in question. DFSS is important in any situation where inherent process capability is an issue.
This hands-on workshop will demonstrate the power of applying DFSS within service and
transaction, and how it can drive business profitability, maximise customer satisfaction and
result in dramatically improved service levels. Using first-hand examples from sectors such as healthcare and finance, Six-Winners will demonstrate how to apply DFSS during the critical design stage to eliminate your service's flaws.
Healthcare
As the healthcare industry grapples with financial pressures, limited resources, changing regulations, personnel shortages, the public's increased attention to quality of care and other challenges, many healthcare organizations have found that DFSS-related methodologies, tools, techniques, strategies and tactics have proven invaluable.
Financial Services
The financial services industry today finds itself faced with increasingly critical customers and growing demands for efficiency. As a result, a rising number of financial institutions are
using DFSS in the battle against accelerating competition levels.
At the end of this interactive workshop you will leave with a good understanding of:
• DFSS's place within service and transaction
• DFSS Roadmaps
• Project Selection
• Tried and proven approaches
• Value Analysis
• Process Design
• Analysing your customers and meeting their needs
• Service Quality Measures
• Theory of Constraints (TOC)
• Managing change
• Statistical Methods for DFFS in service and transaction environments

Six-Winners has been chosen to hold a full day “In-depth introduction to Six Sigma Deployment for the Chemical & Pharmaceutical Sector”.

Find out how to implement Six Sigma as a future growth driver in your company. This interactive workshop is especially developed to avoid traps and structural issues that result from errors easily made at the initial planning stage.

• The untapped opportunities to achieve Six Sigma brilliance in your company
• How to align strategic business objectives with Six Sigma
• The successful screening and assignment of workable Six Sigma projects
• The development of a sound Six Sigma training programme
• Raising Six Sigma awareness for all employees - "Make quality an everyday activity!"
• Continuous coaching for Six Sigma Belts and the Management team

At the completion of this hands-on workshop all attendees will have an understanding of:
• The outstanding results you can expect from Six Sigma rollout in your company
• The initial and continuous quality efforts required to achieve and to maintain these results
• "Who needs to do which things, and in what order?"
• The number of Six Sigma Belts your company needs to get the most out of your Six Sigma

We will look in detail at how Six Sigma provides you with the right quality tools to optimise your business performance in today's hypercompetitive marketplace. These are results you can take back home to your company to achieve dramatic improvement

Background
The list of companies who implement Six Sigma is increasing every single day. What the majority of the Six Sigma companies realize is the fact that the normal Six Sigma (manufacturing and service / transactional) does not work 100% in the Software and IT environment. In addition, many companies who use best practices / product life cycle approaches (e.g. ITIL, CMMI…) do not realize the full benefit of their initiatives.
For these reasons, Six Sigma Advantage Inc. / Six-Winners created and propose a new wave - the third wave - of Six Sigma: Six Sigma for Software and IT.
The third wave of Six Sigma – designed specifically for Software and IT - enables companies to really leverage the power of Six Sigma in Software and IT environment and empowers and integrates conventional best practices / product life cycle approaches for excellent results.

Design for Six Sigma – Intense Public Training

Become a Six Sigma Winner - 4 Day Intense Training "Design for Six Sigma" in Paris

This Training focuses on the Design for Six Sigma and uses the DMADV methodology for new services, processes, or products so they meet customer needs and high performance levels from initial implementation or launch. It is part of the Six Sigma Curriculum for individuals and companies.

The goal:

The goal of the method is to design a new product/service/process to meet customer requirements from the beginning. This contrasts with the common practice of ‘getting something out there’ and then investing lots of resources after the product or service is offered to make it work for customers.

You will be able to use the following steps to learn aply DMADV:

Step 1: DEFINE. This step spells out the project's purpose, importance, scope, deadlines, and resources. Tools in this Step include charters, project plans (which includes planning for several generations of the product/service), change management, and risk management.

Step 2: MEASURE. The second step focuses on further defining and understanding the Voice of the Customer. This step integrates information from customer research, benchmarking, and technical research to arrive at a prioritized set of Critical To Quality Characteristics which the design must address. Tools in this Step include VOC research methods, data collection planning, Kano model, benchmarking, methods for translating customer requirements into design requirements, and QFD.

Step 3: ANALYZE. This step takes the CTQs from Step 2 and uses them to spark innovative ideas for a new design. These concepts are then evaluated and the best concept is chosen for the next stage of design. Customer input is included in the evaluation. At this point there is a conceptual design review to check the team’s work and thinking in this stage of development and to ensure broad understanding and support for the chosen design option. Tools in this Step include creativity techniques, prototyping, and the Pugh matrix.

Step 4: DESIGN. In this step several design subteams work in parallel developing, testing and building various design components. In general, the sub-teams develop and test a high level design, then make necessary modifications before developing and testing detailed designs. Two reviews—a high level design review and a detailed design review—occur during this step. Tools in this step include QFD, simulations, process modeling, FMEA/EMEA, planning full scale pilots, process management charts, and risk analysis.

Step 5: VERIFY. In this step the team prepares to transition the product/service/process to process owners for ongoing maintenance and control. Teams typically deliver a detailed implementation plan which incorporates learnings from the full-scale pilot, documented work processes and methods, and a process management plan. Once responsibilities for implementation have been transitioned, the team formally closes. Tools in this step include transition and implementation strategies.
